Let’s face it, even as driving enthusiasts, the one thing we all don’t enjoy about driving is traffic. It comes in all shapes and sizes so some instances can be more tolerable than others. Unfortunately, it’s just a fact of life when you choose to commute in any metropolitan city so just deal with it and don’t be like this Mitsubishi Evolution X driver (776 NRP). Tailgating in slow moving traffic will not get you anywhere faster, especially when the driver in front of you is just keeping a reasonable distance between the car in front of them.
Interestingly, some Reddit commenters debated whether the Focus driver was using the left lane correctly and even argued that they should be ticketed for hogging the left lane and not overtaking. The fallacy in that logic however, is that even if the Focus wanted to overtake, it would be impossible due to the pre-existing traffic in the left lane. And by that logic, if the left lane moves at the same speed as the right lane, EVERYONE in the left lane should be issued a ticket since they are not overtaking anyone. One Redditor also points out that these “left lane hogging” tickets only apply on highways where the speed limit is 80km/h or higher which is not the case on this particular stretch of road.
Frankly, I think it’s always good to keep a 2-3 second gap between yourself and the vehicle ahead. This bridge in particular has terrible potholes this time of year and following this closely to the vehicle in front is going to make avoiding them that much harder. Do yourself and everyone else on the road a favour and back the fuck off.
